Our words carry power, and they can also be heard and seen. God has given us the ability to speak, and basically have whosoever we say. The scripture teaches us in Proverbs 18:21; death and life is in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. However, the verse above speaks of how a man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. So in essence, whatever we speak builds our atmosphere. Whether we are challenged in our bodies, we should speak, “I am the healed of the LORD.” We may be frustrated or discontented about things in life, we can ask the Holy Spirit to give us the tongue of the learned. HE will set a guard over our mouth, when necessary.
In a society that says we have the freedom to speak; which we do, however, what we are speaking is extremely important. Allow me a moment of transparency. I’ve always been known as an outspoken person. By definition, I believe this could mean frank in stating one’s opinion, critical and controversial. Yes, we all have the right to our opinion, which maybe support by facts, but my words were sometimes spoken out the wrong way. The Lord is perfecting in me how to allow my words to be season with salt, and spoken with grace; so that the fruit of love is manifested. Perhaps you are dealing with the same issue, that ole tongue. You desire an atmosphere of peace, let peace come out of you. You desire an atmosphere of love, allow love to come out of you. Whatever you desire, you be the seed of it. The Holy Spirit is the only ONE, who can help you tame the speech of your tongue.
Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Colossians 4:6
A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence. Proverbs 13:2
